This goes back to my husband’s grandma making it for his mum. And it’s still a favourite.

This creamy homemade mac and cheese recipe beats out the rest and will be a family favourite, just as it clearly has for us.

- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Cook macaroni according to package instructions.
- Melt butter in a saucepan. Add flour and salt. Cook together until combined and bubbly.
- Add milk, stirring constantly. As mixture starts to thicken, add cheese to taste.
- If sauce looks. little thick, you may add a little more milk.
- Pour cheese sauce over drained macaroni in casserole dish. Sprinkle with bread crumbs which have been sautéed in a little butter.
- Bake in oven for 10-15 minutes.
