This creamy homemade mac and cheese recipe beats out the rest and will be a family favourite, just as it clearly has for us.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Cook macaroni according to package instructions.
  3. Melt butter in a saucepan. Add flour and salt. Cook together until combined and bubbly.
  4. Add milk, stirring constantly. As mixture starts to thicken, add cheese to taste.
  5. If sauce looks. little thick, you may add a little more milk.
  6. Pour cheese sauce over drained macaroni in casserole dish. Sprinkle with bread crumbs which have been sautéed in a little butter.
  7. Bake in oven for 10-15 minutes.
