This is an incredibly popular style of dessert partly because it is so easy and partly because of the apparently magical way the sauce starts on top of the pudding and ends up on the bottom.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Butter and sprinkle caster sugar in a 1 Litre ovenproof dish.
  3. Whisk meted butter, milk, sugar and egg together lightly. Sift flour and cocoa together, then whisk in to the milk. Pour this into an ovenproof dish.
  4. Place additional cocoa and sugar together into a bowl, whisk in boiling water until smooth, then pour this over the chocolate pudding.
  5. Place in preheat oven and cook for 30-40 minutes, or until skewer comes out clean when tested.

Notes

ANTHOLOGY NOTES

*If you don't have self-rising flour, replace with 150 grams all purpose flour, 2 tsp baking powder, and 1/2 tsp salt.
